The various powers and functions of the Gram Sabha are as follows:
1. Implementation of the development schemes and programs of the village panchayat.
2. It also identifies the beneficiaries of the various programs and schemes. If they fail to do so, then this task is done by the Gram Panchayat.
3. It requests support from the people of the village in various welfare schemes and programs in the form of cash or kind or both.
4. It supports the various mass education and family welfare programs and schemes.
5. It considers matters relating to levy of taxes or charges, etc., or any other matter referred by the Gram Panchayat.
